Boulware Family

James Boulware, Jr.

November 20, 1908 - January 15, 1967

"A Man of Humility and Dignity"

James Boulware, Jr. was born November 20, 1908 in Kershaw County, South Carolina to James and Alberta Boulware.  His family and friends knew him as "Muddia."  In 1933, he married Millie Scott.  Millie was the sister of David Scott, who was married to Mamie Boulware.  Together, James Jr. and Millie brought forth several wonderful children: Jimmy Lee, Ethel Mae, Thomas, Alma Marie, Thelma, Melvin and Mamie.

James was a very quiet man that said very little.  He kept to himself and was a hard worker. He believed in supporting his family and like the rest of his siblings, he loved them.

Being a refined man, he always dressed nice and neat.  He enjoyed attending church and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church became his official home church after he relocated from South Carolina.

James never learned to drive a car; therefore, he walked everywhere he went. When he walked he held his head high, which indicated that, "he was a proud individual."  James had a beautiful smile and it is said that the children would love for him to laugh.

James loved his family and he was the only one in the family that was soft spoken; however, he was a true Boulware in that he would speak his mind.  James did not allow people or situations to bother him.  He did what he could do and then put the rest in God's hand.

His children remember him being a strong disciplinarian, a compassionate father, and a loving husband to his wife Millie.  His children never went without and he raised them all to have a relationship with Jesus.  James loved Sunday School and rarely missed a Sunday of church worship.  We walked to church every Sunday if the weather permitted. He would hold his head high and walk with dignity as though he was walking in Jerusalem.

James was the coolest of all the Boulware men.

James went on to be with the Lord on January 15, 1967.
