Boulware Family

Georgia Mae Boulware Murphy

June 8, 1926 - December 31, 1995

"A Woman of Outspokenness, Authoritativeness, Hard Worker & Living"

Georgia Mae Boulware Murphy was born in Fairfield County on June 8, 1926.  She was the youngest of fourteen children born to Alberta and James Boulware.   Georgia attended Mickle School.

Georgia married her childhood sweetheart, Daniel L. Murphy and out of that holy encounter,  there were seven wonderful children: Flemon (Pete), Thomasenia (Snookie), Thomas, Tena (Lois), Priscilla (Cilla), Daniel (Bull), and Nora (Rosie).  Georgia lost one of her beautiful children, a twin to Thomasenia.

At an early age, Georgia joined the Rock Hill Baptist Church, the family church and later on she and her husband joined St. Matthew Baptist Church where she remained until her death.

Georgia was well known in the community.  She not only raised her children but she raised everyone elses children in the community, and she didn't spare the rod for hers nor yours.  Georgia had special gifts; she could look at you and tell who your parents were and if you were a liar.  She believed in people knowing their family heritage.

Georgia was a very domesticated individual; she always kept a clean house.  She was known for her special down home southern dishes and everyone of her brothers and sisters had a special meal that she had to prepare when they came to visit her.  She loved her family and she believed in you knowing and supporting your family.  She was the official historian for the family.

Georgia loved church and being in the presence of God.  She taught her children to trust in the Lord, to pray and study the Word of God. Her love for God extended outside the walls of the church and into the community.  She was always feeding someone, visiting the sick, and taking care of stray animals.  She had a love for everyone - people and animals.

Georgia was a very smart woman; she had book sense and mother's wit.  She could speak about a giving situation or person, and it would come to pass.  Georgia believed in doing right by all people regardless of their color.  She belonged to several auxilliaries including the NAACP.  Georgia was a true advocate for the underdog.  She missed her calling, she should have been a lawyer.  Both she and her brother, "Man" who missed his calling as well would have had an excellent law firm.  Georgia was known to speak her mind and she backed her words up - both verbally and in her purse (she carried "PIECE BE STEEL" in her purse), and she didn't play.

Both Georgia and her sister Daisy were big supporters of Bell South, and they should have been major stockholders in the company.  However, her daughters and nieces have taken up where they left off, and they're carrying the telecommunication banner.

Georgia went on to be with the Lord on December 31, 1995.
